Adam
SOLD
2003 16hh Bay Gelding
This boy is BIG all over and give an impression of being much taller than his 16 hands. Very much a Cleveland Bay type with a 195cm girth, great bone, wide chest and hips.
He would easily carry 120kg+ and interestingly his heavy bone does not translate into heavy movement as both his trot and canter are light and balanced.
He has a strong but honest personality and once we figured out the best training style for him he went ahead in leaps and bounds. He will need a confident rider to make sure he does his job as he is not overly forward and sometimes needs to be pushed to work. Adam is easy to catch and loves being the focus of your attention for grooming and massages.
His liberty work is good and we are using this to work through some reactions to ropes to improve his lunge work. He stands still to mount and dismount and reacts well to the one rein stop on the trail. Photo on right is on his first trail ride.

On his first big trail of 4.5 hours Adam behaved perfectly in a mixed group of 6 horses and 1 dog. Travelling over mixed terrain that included village streets, river crossings, steep hills, cattle and passed a group of 8 motorbikes. At lunch break he tied up well and was easy to mount from a stump. Not only was his behaviour excellent but he did this ride barefoot and showed no signs of soreness over the often rough trails.
This is just after our first canter - amazingly balanced and light for his size but most pleasing was the loose rein walk we went into straight afterwards :)
He is currently happiest working on trails but we will be working on his arena skills as his training progresses. Given his natural balance I will be very interested to start him over some low jumps as well.

Jeff was interested in Adam from the start of his training but events conspired to delay his visit to Kalimbah untill a few weeks ago. This was probably for the best as he was able to see Adam at the end of his training and appreciate what a great horse he has turned into.
We spent the day taking Jeff through all of Adam's training including his liberty work and lunge work. This was were you could see how well Adam responded to Jeff, they worked so well together as you can see from the videos below. Also keep in mind that Jeff had never seen liberty work before - let alone worked a horse at liberty!
After our groundwork and ridden work in the arena we headed out on the trail and encountered motorbikes, dogs and a blind wombat (who almost ran into us!). Jeff and Adam handled it all together and the deal was pretty much sealed!

Adam is heading up to join Jeff in Sydney at the end of July. He is still improving everytime he goes out on the trail and impresses everyone I ride him with :)
