Kalimbah Standardbreds - Dedicated to promoting the Standardbred Pleasure Horse

Transition to Saddle Program
For owners who have their own horse, Kalimbah Standardbreds offers a training service to make sure their horse has the best possible start under saddle. Our specialised program has been developed with a deep understanding of the physical and mental conditioning of the racing Standardbreds and works to help them understand the new job they are being given as easily as possible.
From establishing ground skills, having them work confidently in the arena and then progess onto trails, we work with the owner to best prepare the horse for the particular discipline it will be required to work in.
Training usually takes 4 - 6 weeks and we invite the owner to be as involved as they can be during the process - observing training sessions, taking part in ridden sessions on a Kalimbah horse in the early stages then riding their own horse in the final sessions.
You can view a copy of our current training agreement below but please contact us to discuss your horse's training needs so we can develope a suitable programme.

Standardbred Training Sessions
We can also help owners whose Standardbred has been started under saddle but is having difficulties achieving it's potential as a riding horse. The confidence and balance to acheive good trot and canter transitions is often an issue with Standardbreds and our specialised training can help both horse and rider to work through these.
With a combination of ground, arena and trail work horse and human can learn to work better as a team and make real progress together.

Hi Pieta. Just wanted to let you know how much Beth, Sheree and I appreciate what you have done for us and our two standies over the last couple of KISS sessions. The troubles we were having with our new boy had left the girls way down on confidence and we were seriously thinking we had made the wrong decision and were looking to move him on. With your guidance, patience and down to earth assistance we have all made some wonderful progress. The girls are actually enjoying the time they spend with him now! We now have a much better understanding of the issues we were having and feel confident and equipped to move ahead with their education. Looking forward to our next session and enjoying some of those wonderful river-side trails you have available. Roger Bradley May 10, 2010
